Thematic Introduction

The Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) of Wajibika Centre is a transformative initiative designed to equip young people with the skills, character, and opportunities they need to become confident leaders and agents of change in their communities. Through a blend of leadership training, mentorship, experiential learning, and community engagement, YLDP nurtures responsible, innovative, and socially aware youth who can positively contribute to Kenya’s development. The program builds on Wajibika’s long-standing commitment to empowering the next generation and fostering resilient, inclusive, and vibrant communities.

Problem Statement

Kenya has a young population, but faces a severe jobs crisis with local definitions showing youth unemployment as high as 67% alongside a broader strict model rate near 15.25%. Youth between the age of 18 and 35 are facing challenges of unemployment, education, brain drain and decent livelihood opportunities.
