Introduction

Kenya faces a profound education crisis, with an estimated 1.8 to 5 million children out of school and learning poverty , compounded by poverty, gender inequality, climate shocks, and weak public systems. At Wajibika Centre, we approach education as a matter of rights, dignity, and child protection, focusing on those most excluded — girls, minority communities, children in urban slums, those with disabilities, and learners struggling with foundational skills.

Objective

To transform education for Kenya’s most vulnerable children — ensuring access, learning, protection, and opportunity for every child, everywhere.

Our Interventions

1. Access & Inclusion:

Reaching never-enrolled and out-of-school children with second-chance learning, flexible schedules, and safe learning spaces in underserved communities.

2. Foundational Learning & Teacher Support:

Strengthening literacy, numeracy, and early-grade learning through structured camps, coaching, and school improvement partnerships.

3. Girls’ Education & Protection:

Reducing dropout risks via scholarships, mentorship, safe transport, girl-friendly WASH, and community engagement.
