Climate Action & Environment
Sustainable Environmental Practices and Climate Smart Solutions
Thematic Introduction
Wajibika Centre builds resilient communities by tackling climate impacts and environmental degradation through integrated, people-centered approaches. The program strengthens local capacity for climate adaptation, empowers youth and children in policy advocacy, and promotes biodiversity conservation and sustainable land and water management. It advances environmental stewardship with community-led resource ownership, waste reduction, recycling, and safe disposal systems, while integrating climate resilience into WASH services to ensure safe water and sanitation during floods, droughts, and other shocks.
Objective: Promote sustainable development through climate resilience, environmental protection, and community-led adaptation that empowers vulnerable populations and institutions to respond effectively to climate challenges.
What We Envision
- A climate-resilient rural Kenya
where vulnerable groups like women, youth, minorities, and girls have fair access to resources and opportunities to adapt to climate change.
2. A sustainable, low-carbon Kenya
where climate change is included in all development plans, focusing on clean energy, energy efficiency, and responsible resource use.
3. A climate-secure Kenya
where communities participate in climate actions with access to information, tools, and funding for adaptation and emission reduction.
