Climate Change Initiatives
At Wajibika Centre for Rural Development, we recognize the critical impact of climate change on rural communities in Kenya. We are dedicated to implementing sustainable practices and projects that mitigate the effects of climate change and promote environmental resilience. We promote the transformative capacities of households and community groups by contributing to the already available skills, resources and established roles to bring about transformative changes that contributes towards achieving sustainable development.
Climate-Smart Agriculture
- Training and education: Providing farmers with knowledge on sustainable farming techniques such as crop rotation, agroforestry, and water conservation
- Resource Provision: Supplying drought-resistant seeds, organic fertilizers, and other essential resources to improve crop yields
- Technology integration: introducing modern technologies like drip irrigation and weather forecasting tools to help farmers adapt to changing climatic conditions.
Reforestation and Conservation
We are committed to restoring and conserving Kenya’s natural ecosystems. Our efforts include:
- Tree Planting Campaigns: Organizing tree planting events to combat deforestation and promote biodiversity. We have planted ten thousand trees across our focus counties.
